Boss Prep

Mina the Hollower Boss Preparation Guide

A conservative pre-boss checklist for checking weapons, trinkets, upgrades, healing comfort, and pattern reading before major fights.

Prepare before changing everything

A hard fight does not always mean your full build is wrong. Start by checking whether your current setup gives you a safe attack window, a way to recover space, and enough comfort to practice patterns.

Avoid rebuilding around one failed attempt. Make one useful change, then test whether the fight becomes easier to read.

Check health, upgrades, and comfort

Before a boss, look at your survival margin first. If you are losing before you understand the attack pattern, a defensive or consistency upgrade may help more than a risky damage choice.

If you can survive long enough to observe the fight, then weapon timing and trinket choices become easier to judge.

Choose tools for the fight you are seeing

Use your main weapon when you can safely reach the boss after an attack. Use sidearms or safer spacing tools when melee would force you into overlapping danger.

Trinkets should support the habit you need most: surviving mistakes, keeping pressure steady, or making practice less punishing.

Read patterns instead of racing damage

Boss fights become more manageable when you watch the wind-up, the attack path, the recovery time, and the safest direction to leave after your punish.

A clean short punish is usually better for learning than chasing extra hits and losing the position that made the opening safe.

Pre-boss checklist

  • Confirm your main weapon feels reliable in normal rooms.
  • Equip trinkets that help survival or consistent practice.
  • Check upgrades that solve your current wall instead of a future goal.
  • Use the first attempts to observe patterns, not to force a quick win.
  • Change one part of the setup at a time after a loss.
